A couple of weeks ago my cat and I checking out why the 903 Gustavsson was growing so slow most of the time. And the answer was: inside the pumpkin nothing wrong, but between the stump and the pumpkin the vine was rotten off. (It was a bit dangerous to get inside the pumpkin, and my cat seemed to be a bit scared, but I managed to get out again!)
903 Gustavsson 08 uow 12% heavy (95 Gustavsson 07 x Self)
95 Gustavsson 07 uow (998 Pukos x 1090 Gustavsson)
1090 Gustavsson 07 (1502 Wallace x Self)

This year I also grew a giant amaranth (thanks for the seeds, Brian!). April 1st I planted the seed which was only 1,5 mm long.

July 12th my cat was climbing up the stem of the amaranth. When I tried to take him down, he clinged on to the stem, and unfortunately we managed to break the stem.... The stem was 3 m/ 10 feet high.

On July 12th (the same day as the stem broke) the circ of the stem was 54 cm.

October 23 I measured the the circ for the last time. It was 119 cm. If it would have been half an inch more, it would have been 4 feet. As most the circ gained 2,5 cm/1" a day. Not bad for being my first season! Next year I will try to hit a circ of 5 feet.
