Time to start my diary for the year. This year I am growing the 966.9 Vincent-McGill 07' for my main plant. I am also growing the 1085 Bowles 08' for pollen. For tomatoes I am growing two 7.18 Harps, one 3.59 Perry, and one 80 Day seed that came for Don Langevin.

I planted the 966.9 Vincent-McGill on 5/19. Seven days after it germinated. Here is a pic of it taken on 6/7.

Last year we only had two, three periods where the temperature was over 90 degrees. Once in June, and the other in July. Both times burnt the tip of my main vine. This year I built a triangle shaped structure with some scrap wood, and put some 50% green shade cloth both sides. Hopefully this works for this year. Here is a photo of the side view.

Forgot to mention that the vine snapped at the stump on the 966.9 on 6/13. It went half-way through. I put a Captan paste on it, and buried it the next day. The vine has grown over three feet since then. So far it has shown no sign of slowing down. I think I got lucky this time around.

I pollinated this one on 7/7/10. Had to self it, because I lost the other plant due to NIPSCO workers.

Only the second pumpkin pollinated made it this year. It is DAP 24 on 8/4/10 with a CC of 81.75". Noticed that the stem was split on the top and bottom where it meets the pumpkin. Must be from all the rain we have been having.

I cut the stem on both sides the where the splits were at, and put Captan on the cuts. I hope that it helps. If not there is always next year.
