This weekend I tilled in all the leaves, horsemanure/peatmoss, kelp and magnedol in my two competitionpatches that will hold three plants, the soil has never looked so good and i have never before added so much organics to the soil,I also have done a total over 90 holes one meter deep and filled them with organics. I hope all the hard work will pay back in autumn. My plan is to start the seeds the 10-15 april for the competitionpatches and the seeds for the outsideplants one week later.I have also added a section more to the big greenhouse so i can get a little more space between the back to back plants and make sure the pumpkins will be inside greenhouse. The small greenhouse I also will do some more sections too, so i make sure the pumpkin on that plant also got the best opportunities to grow big. Next step will be too dig down the heatingcables.

This year i changed growing direction of my small greenhouse and digged up all soil in it and replaced it with new soil and some other nice stuff. The reason why i changed growing direction is that i wanted to get more sun on the pumpkin this year, it has always been in the shadow and do not really warm up cause of the lack of sun.

Some nice stuff i never used before that i will try this year to get bigger pumpkins. Humic Acid, bone meal, and bio grow endo plus myccorizzal fungi.

Soil heating cables for the starting zone at small greenhouse.I been putting them down 45 cm, my hope is to get a soiltemp at 25-30 degrees Celcius at the starting zone. normal soiltemp outside is now 5-10 celcius.

First plant to set out this year is the 1502 Wallace in big greenhouse. On this picture it is 2 weeks since I started the seed and it has been in the greenhouse for a week. the soiltemp is somewhere between 22- 25 degrees celcius now in the heated area. I also have a 200w frostguard on for the nights and a nightcover over it this time a year.

The planned line-up this year will be 1502 wallace small greenhouse. 664 Liggett and 1093 Hunt in big greenhouse and 985 Werner and 1007 Brown -00 are my outsideplants Unfortunatly I had to pull both my top plants (664 and 1093)in big greenhouse cause they were mutantplants. the only backups I had going was the 1191,5 northrup and the 243 Beachy -01 (both orange ones) so this two seeds did get my topspots this year, maybee not the best choose for going big but i will do my best to get as big orange one i can get out of this two ones instead. I have never growed a orange one before, only ugly ones, so this will be a challange. a good goal i set up is to get a 1000 lbs from each of this two seeds. Here you see my 985 werner plant with only one cot leaf for outside patch.

The 1191,5 Northrup look like it will be a very nice long pumpkin with long stem. I have pollinated it with the 243 Beachy-01 that is a orange nice shaped producer. This pumpkin grows very good for me and will be my best chance to grow a big one this year I think.

My pumpkin on the 1502 Wallaceplant day 42, 280 Ott est 467 lbs. The pumpkin is a slow grower, no real speed on the gains, dont really know why, Maybee its because of the Mosaic virus that have infected some of the leaves at an early stage.

This is my pumpkin on the 1191,5 Northrup plant. Today its 30 days old and 260 Ott est 377 lbs that is a litle bit over the 1200 benchmarks for day 30. Its the most perfect pumpkin I ever had. Nice shape and colour, long fat stem into pumpkin, very healthy plant. Everything looks a little bit to good to be true. I dont expect it to hold toghether if it will continue growing as fast as it does for the moment. But I keep my fingers crossed.

Overhead picture of my pumpkinplants I got at home. In the front you see the 1007 Brown -00 plant growing with only the stump in soil, the rest is on the grass. Amazing to see how it can grow with only the stumproots to support the plant. In front in big greenhouse I pulled part of the 243 beachy plant cause i couldnt set anything on it. At the other direction grows the 1191,5 Northrup plant. And in small greenhouse grows the 1502 wallaceplant.

The 1191,5 weighed 1155 lbs and was a little light to chart. But it was the best pumpkin i ever had seen, no defects to complain about. It had a long fat stem, perfect shape, no dill rings or sucked in blossom. nice skin and colour. The cross is 1191,5 Northrup x 243 Beachy .
