Well I've been in this game long enough now to know this probably won't last and mother nature is doing her worst too so I'm going to enjoy this ride for as long as I can.........so a little extra update today for Brad.
DAP 31 the 168.7 A tapes 215.5 inches, I'm sure Brad knows what the estimated weight of that is ;)

And on DAP 32 were up to 118.5 inches so I guess this one's for my good friend John.
If only the weigh off was today..... but its not, so its shit or bust!

This morning I found this tiny crack at the blossom so I immediately cut her off of the vine.
As far as I can see the crack does not yet penetrate in to the cavity but obviously it would have done before long had I have left her on the vine.
I have no option now but to take her to malvern tomorrow where there is no category for her just to get an official weight which is gutting as I wanted to weigh her in Southampton as a possible WR contender and GPC first place but that won't happen now.
Provided the split doesn't progress (it shouldn't now she's cut) the best I can hope for is to persuade Guinness to recognise fp's as a WR (assuming she doesn't weigh mega light) she's estimated at 270 lbs.

We had a good weekend at Malvern last weekend, after a difficult year with the marrows losing 9 of 12 to splits I managed to 'restore order' and bench this one which weighed 75.8 kg or 167.11 lbs and was grown off vinces 256 WR from last year. Thanks for the seed vince.

Weighed a marrow at Wargrave nursery weigh off this afternoon which tied with my personal best of 200.6 lbs. Still marrow number 2 for me over the 200 lb barrier and I'm happy.

So with the weigh off tomorrow my last pictures from the patch.
The 168.7 'little sister' is taping 211 inches OTT and in no hurry to turn. I actually cut her off the vine when she just passed the 7 week since DAP mark as growth was minimal and we've had some heavy rains so I wasnt prepared to take the risk of losing her to a big ugly BES. Picture taken a week ago so she's oranged up a little since.

And my last remaining sound marrow was removed last week also as I was nursing a massive dill ring. Im not sure it'll be enough, I'm 50/50 on it but the hope is to finally throw that big fat monkey off of my shoulder by the name of the 206.5 Brad Wursten! He's been there long enough and outstayed his welcome lol

Well what a day we had at sunnyfields yesterday, I grew one AG plant for fun this year. The 791 ressel, thank you for the seed patrick!. The plan was to grow for orange, it was a nice colour but not the shiny orange I was hoping for however a nice pumpkin none the less which placed third so I was very happy with that.

But I can't say the same for the under side. I knew she wouldn't keep for too long as she was cut before she had properly cured, much the same happened to my 220 uow marrow from 2018. So not knowing what was going on inside I had to cut her open to remove the seeds.

After a tough year with splits I only seeded my best two marrows and the two field pumpkins,
First germination teat wasn't as I'd hoped.
200.6 M - 0/4
235.9 M - 3/3
268 F.P - 1/4
218.3 F.P - 2/4
no idea why the 200.6 marrows failed as the seeds appear strong, quite disappointing.
The 235.9 marrow seeds germinated fine.
I was suspicious about the field pumpkin seeds as they appear rather thin now that they have dried out.
I'm going to try another batch.
