hi my name is mitch . this my first year growing atlantic giants.my only previous pumpkin growing experience was last year 2 burpee prize winner hybrid plants resulting in 3 small pumpkins...hope to do better this year. here is a pic from last year.

some back ups... 2- 1081 leonzi, 1- 616 bosworth, 1- 854 mongeon, 1- 143.3 frei. i really liked the color of that 616 pumpkin. all of the back-ups have homes so they wont be wasted.

the maggots got my 588young and my 1087marsh.and then there were 2. i knew i was gonna take some lumps being a rook, but that left a cartoon knot on my head...im gonna plant a couple back ups,pray my 769's make it and watch for more lumps.

after reading posts about the maggots i knew i was doomed. i added fresh horse manure in the spring ,didnt use any pest control or heat cables.i wont make that mistake again.

i have started using neptunes fish on monday, seaweed on wednesday and fish and seaweed on friday. i also used mycor but cant tell if its workin. i will continue to use it when vine burying if that day ever comes. also i have been using daconil, sevin (spray an dust) i hope thats enough of a fung and pest plan.

769lombardi-b. im going on vacation for a week . 6 females have shown up on this plant. 1 on the main vine at 11 and a half ft. the rest are on secondaries.

769lombardi-a. this ones still a good bit smaller. the main is right around 12 ft. so its only a couple inches behind in that department. i hope they both take off while im gone,weather is lookin good for the next 5 days or so.

had a stem split on the 616 fruit. i put some captan on it and keeping a eye on it. its about 8ft. on the main vine and i got a self pollinated fruit at about 10ft. so if i have to cull it i will.

here is the 769 lombardi-b . my biggest plant. the secondaries are way bigger than the secondaries on my other 2 plants. i have 2 fruit pollinated on the main at 11ft and 13ft. and another fruit on a secondary(oh #$%@!^ pumpkin)

her measurements 111 cc - 62 sb - 72 ss = 245 ott or 312 lbs. it grew 98 and 99 pounds the last 2 weeks. on wednesday i started getting worried about the dent, it was getting deeper and some wrinkleing skin and friday mornin there it was... gone. the hole of death got on my pumpkin. dont let it get on yours...
