In only my second season growing I have high expectations. Thanks to the help of a lot of growers but most notably Don Young. I am kind of team growing this year with 3 close friends and my uncle. I only have room for two plants but between the 5 of us we should have 11 plants total. I am going to grow Don’s 1622 and Chad’s 1544. Other crosses our group will make are 948 x 1622, 1004 x 948, 1293 x 1004, 1347 x 1462, 1004 x 1544, 1462 x 1622. Of course things could change before the season starts. Thank you everybody that sent me seeds. Hopefully you will be growing a 1726 Baker in 2011. Chad and Henry Baker

This is Henry and my wife Patti at Christmas time. Henry received his first set of patch tools. We just found out Henry is going to be a big brother. Luckily the baby should get here just before the Anamosa.

Spring may finally be here in Iowa. The snow has finally melted off the green, so Henry and I bundled up to hit our first shots of 2010. There is a lot of work to be done before the pumpkins hit dirt. Luckily I have a good helper.

Henry and I went over to "coach" Don Young’s patch today. Always good to talk with the best. We learned a lot and got some good ideas on how to move forward. Definitely have room for improvement. Thanks again Don, see you in a couple weeks for my next lesson. Chad and Henry

My niece Abby and I planted her pumpkins today. She put in a 1161 Mohr and 833 Bhaskaran. Soil is very poor at her patch but she will have fun. Her goal is to have a pumpkin bigger then her dad.

I had to find a spot for one orange pumpkin. With no more room in the garden behind the shed was the best I could do. Not much sun light or good dirt, but I am hoping Peter put some power behind this seed. 1004 Mohr 08'

Patch is struggling, Don said the culprit is spider mites. I would give fruit growth an F+ at this point just above zero lbs per week. But the fruit is sound and should make it to the weigh off.
