1885 plant is thick and likes to grow straight up. Snaps in the cold and new growth burns if sunny and over 80. Had a few side vines chewed off from an enemy in the patch. The smoke from the wildfires is a nice shade I guess.

We dropped off our oldest over the weekend all the way to Boston university. Dang. That sure was hard leaving my little buddy a thousand miles from home. Picture is a perfect memory of her pumpkin entry about 10 years ago.

We only ended up with about 600 sq feet for the 1885 Werner plant and man is it beat from weather and sprays but still gaining and adding stretch marks. OTT 435 at last check makes this the biggest pumpkin we have ever grown. Fingers crossed it goes heavy!!!

Got a pumpkin carving in today with this beautiful weather. This is the 1931 Daletas x1885.5 Werner = est 1000 pounds. Plant rotted but the pumpkin sat in the patch for a month and a half and actually made it to the front yard display.
