Received my seed pack from the S.G.P.G today A lot of great seeds , several pumpkins over 1000 pounds with great genetics. It was fun going through them on this cold and snowy day. Thank you Frank and Tina and all of the member of the S.G.P.A for making this happen.

Worked on getting the hoop house up today, I was really wanting to get the plastic on it before it rained tomorrow but the wind was blowing so hard I was afraid to attempt it. The hoop house is 14 ft long and 5 ft wide. I think will only grow 2 pumpkins this year so both of them will go in this one hoop house back to back.

All seeds above the ground now and looking good. Whew!!! I am sure glad that part is over with. Its just hard to believe that if everything goes good and with a lot of luck , these little plants could produce a fruit over a half a ton in 5 months. Its really hard to believe.

I am very pleased with the way the plants are growing. The 1894 Mathison's cotyledons were stuck together and didn't want to unfold, I gave it a extra day and I could see it was not going to open on its own so I gently pulled them apart and now its growing without any issues. I believe if I had not separated them it would have died. I notice that the true leaves on it seem to be a day behind the 1813 Northup and the 1546 Shenoha

Since the weather seems to be warming up, I removed the plants from the grow lights and repotted them into larger containers filled with Happy Frog potting mix and placed into the green house . I put heating mats under each pot and plug them in at night to keep the soil warm.

I need some advice. This is the vine on the 1894 Mathison, it is kinda flat and wide, should I be concerned about it or is this normal. I will upload another picture on the next page. Thanks kr4af@yahoo.com

As bad as I hated to ,I pulled the 1894 Mathison because it was a flat vine. I thought about trying to keep it but after reading several past diary's I seen people having bad luck with them. I had the 1546 Shenoha as a backup so I will use it. I seemed to be fooling around with the 1894 all the time and neglecting the other plants , so I pulled her and put it another part of the patch in case I may need some male blooms later on and this plant might have a few .

I am trying to grow a giant tomato with bubbleponics. I grew some regular tomato's and peppers a few years ago and they really did well. On the right is the Boudyo 6.57 the middle is the 4.61 Finders and on the left is the 4.57 McCoy
in the front is a Trinidad moruga scorpion pepper that I am using for a access hole to put in water and the nutrients.

This is the root system pulling up nutrients. The last time I grew like this I had 4 Mr Stripey and 3 banana pepper's and the tomato's grew to the top of the garage. I was using a 12 gal container last time and it kept me busy just putting water in it . so this time iwent with a 24 gal.

I kind of give up on my diary because things were not looking good earlier on. But my luck turned around at the end of the season . I ended up coming in 6th place at Bear Wallow weigh offs but I broke the 1000 hump with the pumpkin weighing 1,071 pounds and going 20% heavy it was my personal best . I also brought home the Howard Dill Award that I honored to receive. Thank you Shazzy for the great seed. And thanks to everyone else that were good enough to send me there seed to try to grow.
