Three giants will go here but not until 2025. This year is all about the brassicas.

The Partlow Thunderdome is getting back into the game this year! Going squash and AG. I did multiple soil tests to see where it was and where I may have gotten it out of whack over the years but it was pretty even. I have some exciting new ideas and changes this year to try. A 1000 pounder is coming out of here this year.

I am excited about this year. Last year with the poor weather there was hardly a chance to succeed and attain my goals even though I was prepared. A wise grower once told me “once every six years or so you will get the perfect weather to possibly break a WR. Don’t let that be the year you weren’t prepared and ready for it because last year was bad. You must be prepared every year “.

I put up my shade net to make sure I am good to go. I have one more net to go. They need some maintenance and I changed some things. I want to be able to retract it more easily. I think I am going to broadfork this by hand it really needs it and the soil is turning easily as it has warmed up.

I finished up with the shade net today and after a few tries I got it so I can remove it somewhat easily. Now I need to put it away ugh. I saw some worms today turning the first plant site. Soil looks pretty nice. Main thing I still need 35 lbs epsom for each spot. I am going to feel this tomorrow, matter of fact I feel it right now:)

I am tardy on posting but wanted to share some pictures of our trip to the lab in SC. A huge thank you to all the scientists who spent the day with us and showed us what important projects they are working on. I learned a great respect for them and their life dedication to humanity.

After melons and tomatoes Then we went outside to the strawberry test plot. Charleston also does extensive work on white fly in sweet potatoes. Nematodes in cotton and other southern crops. Also they have a large broccoli project. The plants we saw were into their eighth ? year of a genetic project. Talk about dedication. I have no patience to wait out a six month grow!

Broccoli project and the Dr behind it. Sorry for not having any names I am terrible about names. But I do remember this man has been retired over two years and is here a lot just trying to see it through . My hats off to him and all the workers and scientists at USDA Charleston!

“Peace be with you” The first words Jesus spoke to his disciples after being risen. They were shook up as you could imagine. These crazy times can shake us up but keep the faith! Peace be with you! I love April has to be my favorite month. Good luck everyone this year!

Train Day in Ashland, Va was fun. There are an abundance of wonderful murals like this one painted throughout the town.

My goals this year are to do my best and enjoy growing. Enjoy the moments! I have read and believe that the best way to reach your goals is to write them down where you see them every day. And also to tell your friends, so they can push you…and pick you up! So my friends my goal is to be back in Green Bay to receive the Master Gardener Trophy! I know it’s a longshot but a person can dream! The picture is Benson Falls Tn

6.33 and 6.81 Gantner are doing great ! and I am not a tomato grower, not yet lol. I am using the solo 2 cup method as you can see and I like it. They are getting top heavy though already. Thanks Deb for donating them to the Sourthern Growers Auction so I could plant them !!

I am so happy that both 320.5 Connolly Bushel Gourds arrived. Both number ones in my book. I really want to do them proud this year. Steve has done such a wonderful job promoting and helping BG growers and all growers. Thanks Steve!

The 320 is in her home. It’s in the same place that I started my first giant’s in 2011. I started working on the soil since this fall and it has been fun to get this spot ready to go again!
