Spent the day working on the water system. We pump from the bay, about 1200 ft to the holding tank and then irrigate from there with a second pump. The @#$%^&* pump to the bay wouldn't prime. Finally got it going late this afternoon. Got a good watering of the patch done after that.
I decided to cull the first pollination on both the 998 and the 993. The second pollination on the 998 was 22" on day 10 and a 5 lobe flower compared to a 4 lobe for the first and only 20" on day 10. If nothing else, there are about three more side vines before the pumpkin.
The 993 was a tougher call. the first pollination had several scars that would defiantly effect the final fruit. Similar situation with the measurements and a six lobe flower.
Both fruit will be culled in a series of three cuts.
5 think the rest are keepers. I will post some pics soon
