This past winter I planted a cover crop of barley, bell beans, vetch, and some kind of peas. I planted it just before Thanksgiving and cut it on March 20th. It was about waist high and was very dense...particularly the barley. I mowed it with my tractor and chopped it up really well before tilling it in.
