873 naylor 2009 looking lovely this morning and also loving this heat. the heat spell will mean i might have some pumpkins sitting a while before the weigh off cuz they are running like race horses. that is going to be a nervous stretch if i make it that far, but with some better powdery mildew control and some new products like the co2, i am hoping to keep the plants healthy and the pumpkins still growing slowly til all 3 weigh offs. if i pollinate at the 13' to 15; range about june 18th, that will give me 99 days of growth for Milwaukee for one pumpkin, and 107 days for one of them for Bengston's Farm Monsters of the Midway Weigh off on Sunday Oct. 3rd for the biggest pumpkin i grow ott wise, and 113 days for Stoughton which will be the one of the other pumpkins besides the largest that is still growing all the way to the end or the latest one to still be putting on inches. the pumpkin that shuts down first will go to Milwaukee so i am not losing pounds. now all i have to do is grow them. lol. nice to see a female sitting at about 8' on the 873 this morning. it will be a pincher, but still very nice to see. i will get a better idea of shape and color in a day or 2 to see what i can expect down the line.
