just got done removing seed coats on my last set of sprouts to be given away this year. this group of 16 will go to 2 different superintendents on my job site. one of which is tundra dan's old buddy jimmy trinka who is getting another 10 plants besides the 4 i gave him last week cuz his neighbors all want to give it a try too. that makes 44 out of 44 this year on germinations of which 33 of them were the 1125 shenoha 2009 (1185 daletas which produced 1125 and x the 1385 jutras which produced the 1173 and both were orange). they were all nice looking symetrical sprouts with no doubling up out of the gate on any of them. i will not get a look at what they will do for a serious grower, but it will be fun to hear the progress of how they do for all these halloween pumpkin growers. i love passing along the hobby and hope that a serious grower gets hooked one of these years. got a cool cloudy rainy day that will be followed up with clear bright hot sun the next 5 or so days so i added 13 more mister heads around the plants today to get full coverage on all the newly forming secondary leaves. i made a stupid but not too costly mistake and learned a nice lesson today. i started to train the secondary at the female at 12' on the 1147 to run back parellel to the main and was gonna hook it around and keep it as long as possible. snap. clean crisp snap luckily not into the female stem or main. close call and stupid. i should know better...hands off on cold mornings. doh!!!!!!!
extension cords, mini patio tables and fans will be used 24 hours to keep the females cool during the upcoming heat wave and the ice bottles are ready for pollination day in the heat.
