"saturday morning pumpkin sex makes me happy" ..... yes i was sining those words instead of "sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy". lol. not only once but twice and right before a rain shower. that was exhausting. lol. the tape measure came out for official lengths of the females on the mains. the 1147 at 12.5' was pollinated with 4 873 naylor 2009 males. it looked like it's momma blossom....ugly. 5 twisted lobes. and not a full nondeveloped partial female segment that looks like a tooth that the momma 1147 had, but still a little weird shaped kicker piece with some about 3 seeds in the blossom. it doesn't worry me as the 1173 last year had seeds in the blossom and my 1147 had that weird tooth like appendage and both developed just fine. it is one of the biggest females i have ever seen. about 6 days ago i thought it would open around the 10th. but it kept waiting and growing bigger and opened 2 days later than expected originally. i am getting pretty good knowing or guessing about how long it takes to develope and open...and this one has fooled. it has been a silly plant since early on, but looks to have some muscle. i am hoping with the tendency it had to throw doubles for a while on just one side of the main every other junction means it is really like 1.5 plants combined. the first secondaries are very close to being terminated at 16' so it has plenty of plant already. the first secondaries on the 873 and the 991 at 16' have already been terminated. and the second round of pumpkin sex was followed up by using 5 males from the 991 to self it at 14'. perfectly symetrical 4 lober. it was supposed to be 90 today but they changed the forecast to 83 and hopefully it stays cloudy. i will bring a fan out to them anyways incase that sun pops out and it gets too toasty out and have the ice bottles ready if needed too.
