and kenny powers has ended his career and life as a pumpkin. it was a fun ride early on kenny and you brought me a lot of joy and disappointment. but you had to get the whack. the plant kicked out a foot of growth since last night on the good secondaries i have circling around to fill the gap. the 2 strongest secondaries have females. one is in plain site and should be about 10 days making a pollination around july 19th. the othe which is one i would consider training as new main and let the terts become secondaries is in the cluster and should be in 2 weeks or so about july 23rd. if the second one takes, it should be the keeper and will have 78 days before needed to be loaded for stoughton. the plant is a lot less stressed since i took the juices from slow growing kenny out of the mix. at this rate, this half clone of a plant will have a full 700 sq ft of which 400 sq ft will be new leaves that will hopefully look good all the way to october. this was the only way to possibly have a decent pumpkin on the plant. and i am committed to do what is ever needed to get something of size for the show. anything over 600 lbs will make me extactic. if i can get a 800 ott go 20% heavy...who knows. but i will do my best. i got tables shading the 2 females and clusters. i will be only getting these 2 shots for an ideal window of time still, so these girls will get a fan throughout development soon and also frozen bottles and fans at pollination and the fan remaining on til 5 days after set in the upcoming heat wave and reamin shaded continuously. by the time the pollinations occur, the rest of the gap might be closed to be filled in with this heat. i am treating it as a "late-clone-plant-experiment-with-a reverse-spider-on-the-strongest-secondary-turned-into-a-new main" pattern. you think that title is long, you should see the small female blossoms. lol.
