here is clegg on day 30 on the 991 urena. losing vine clearance day by day and actually put some muscle on the back right side and spun the pumpkin to the left a bit for equal clearance on both sides. i do not have a whole hell of a lot behind the pumpkin for plant wise. two 15 foot secondaries on the one side and 6 angled back secondaries on the other side. there is 14' of 17' long secondaries on each side in front of the pumpkin. if i lose the battle of clearance if i feel stem stress is an issure. i may have to do like last year with the 1125 shenoha and cut behind the pumpkin and spin this girl a bit with a strap and some friends to get the vine coming more into the pumpkin where no shoulder can push on the main. very short stem when i compare to last years 1385 pics and the stem is coming more off the top of the vine and curled over than from the side of the main. sliding the pumpkin back will not create more room at this point i am going to put some thicker blocks of styrofome in now to start slowly letting the pumpkin push the vine out. and then when i feel the stress is too great, remove those and put in some thinner sponge foam to keep the vine off the flesh as it pushes out in the mean time. big heavy rains yesterday, but i had the ground nicely saturated with some heavier under the canopy sprinkling for 2 hours yesterday in preparation for the rains. yesterday was slightly cloudy and hazy all day and the leaves did not need to be cooled down at all. on hot sunny days i only run the under canopy system 1 hour and then water at least 2 hours during the day on hot sunny high 80s or 90s temps on timed 15 minute intervals between 10 am and 4:30 pm with my 6' rain tower sprinkler in the center of the patch. clegg on day 30 this morning at 8 am is 128.5 78.5 73 = 280 ott or 467 lbs and has jumped up to 39.5 pounds per day average the last 2 in a row.
