I have another female on the 1004 Mohr that I pollinated last Friday. I am hanging on to hope that it will set and replace the beauty of a pumpkin that burst at day 8. So far this one is not very big, but I measured last night and this morning and it IS growing. It grew about 1/2 inch in circumference (not the traditional blossom to stem circumference becuase it is football shaped right now) in about 12 hours. So I might just have a valid pumpkin. It's hard to tell because the color is strange - sort of striped green instead of the usual pale yellow to white color at this stage and because it hasn't grown enough to lay down on the soil yet. It is behind the fruit on the 544 Risi in growth even though they were pollinated on the same morning and the Risi is outside the patch with full shade cloth coverage and misters. I could only afford enough room and equipment for one plant to be 'climate controlled' and the Risi was relagated to pollinator status this year since it was growing slower initially than the Mohr. The two females were pollinated by the opposite plant. I also have another female just pollinated this morning on the Risi as another backup but it's undersized at pollination time.
