the 1147 pollinated today was a 4 lober for record. i have decided to try something a little different with the 873 plant. i am going to give it a 2/3s dose mix of 3-18-18 and 1/3 of 0-0-25 in a drench today. i will throw in a just little more k and slowly add a light dose of 0-0-25 foliar along with the 3-18-18 when i foliar feed in about 3 days for just the 873. then on about day 42 in a week i will give the plant half 3-18-18 and half 0-0-25 foliar and a week later and go 2/3s 0-0-25 and 1/3 3-18-18. this plant has about 2 less secondaries on each side than the 991 as i inadvertantly angled the first 2 secondaries rows on each side of the 991 back further than i realized at the time. i do not want to mature it early, but the 6 lb average slide in recent gains made me decide to push this one a little harder to nip the decline in the bud and try to keep sustained current growth without further decline in average daily gains as long as possible. my feeling is that if it is gettting as thick as i think in the inside, it should be able to handle a slight k push better than a thinned walled fruit.
