here is my biggest tomato to date and i think its about the size and shape of a human heart. lol. it grew 3.25" circ around the right side tomato of the fusion and 4.25" around the circumference at widest point of both tomatoes combined in 12 days and makes it 18.25" circ at widest point and 17.25" around the one bigger of the fused on the right. when it stops growing for a few days i will take it to mitchells meat market in joliet. they have 3 guys that work there in our dart league and will be the official scale for bobby's tap giant tomato contest of 2010. 10 official growers at 5 bucks a piece to enter as many all season as you want. biggest wins the 50 bucks. this one might be hitting the scales soon as it is getting more yellow then green. it still is expanding and fissuring and healing around the stem in growth so i know it is still growing slightly, but for not much longer i pressume. careful monitoring of circ down to the quarter inch will let me know when to pick at the end of growing. this what i have read is the best weight potential for a fruit as evaporation will slowly diminish weight with ripening to a bright red color. i also have a bet for a case of beer and bragging rights with a guy from work who i gave 4 plants to and would love it the most to win that bet. we are both 2 stubborn mofos and lock horns once in a while with no hard feelings the next day. it will be good to show him this pick tomorrow at coffee.
