clegg is 85 days old and coming to a stand still. 3/4" ott in a week is like 1 lb a day. lol. i do notice more bulging sections that are not on the widest points and are not getting picked up in ott measurements. there is one on the left stem side shoulder very similar to tundra dan's 991 last year and i am seeing some overall filling out of the existing bulges noticed by a whitening of the skin on those areas due to slight surface cracking that turns the orangish areas lighter color and then whitish as they grow. but overall, the last 2 nights of cold temps will most likely be the end all of growth. a record low of 46 last nite here in Joliet for sept. 4th and cold the night before too. 2 blankets and a tarp where on clegg last night until it got back up to over 60 degrees this morning. that is when i decided to throw the tape on her. 199.25-110.5-103 was my reading today. now that doesn't mean it definately grew or not...those could just be differences in place of measuring. either way today in the nice cool morning air i took my time and used probvably 12 pieces of duct tape around her for the circumference and also tried multiple places side by side and stem to blossom to find exactly the widest and longest points of the pumpkin for accuracy. 412.75 is what i got. the illinois record is 1468 and i am sitting dead nuts on it with 28 days of sitting time. gonna need a little heavy to offset the minor weight loss over the next 28 days when it does officially stop taking in the juices. gonna be an exciting weigh off and no matter what it goes...light...heavy...record...no record....it has been one fun hot sticky sweaty summer that i will never forget.
