kelp meal, corn meal, and aerify plus products along with 25 lbs of a 75% rye/25% hairy vetch cover crops seeds have been ordered to be here next week to start the fall prep process on oct 4th. i ordered enough of each of these products for spring applications too to go along with my other goodies detailed in my spring ammendments to be purchased with my tax return money next year. i will have my buddy Ray clean the patch of all foliage and weeds and remove all low volume sprinkler heads and clean the patch immediately after the weigh offs to allow it to dry to get to work on it quickly. i have a feeling with the august low rain amounts, the leaves should drop a little earlier this year. we will find the maple leaves in joliet that drop first and gather them to shred immediately and til when i can depending on rain in october. i would like to be done shredding leaves and tilling and adding ammendments around oct 15th. at least 25 bags of shredded maple leaves for each of the 3 spots. i am glad i have a day like this to relax and get my game plan set for the fall so now i can just enjoy the weigh offs and attack the patch when they are over. Ray is still out of work so i will put him to work with fall prep while i am at work. i will let him enjoy bundling vines and weeds for the garbage man and do the tedious work of the watering system breakdown. Ray is my go to guy in the spring for moving my compost too. God Bless capitalism at its finest. lol. and yes...i am a little lazy too when it comes to those jobs. been there and done it solo many years, and as the back gets older...the pockets get deeper. lol.
