to me the greatest success of the season is not what i accomplished individually, but what we have accomplished as a club. we have come along way since that first igpga meeting in georgie boy's kitchen. and i am proud to call all these growers i have met these years my good friends. george janowiak, gene mcmullen, al kopp and his daughter alanna, greg sliwka, ted krueger, judy barenie, tom mcilvaine, chuck huddle, rich and mike deck, greg dulski, chris hernandez. and new comers the past 2 or 3 years like tyson naylor, brian kochanny, jerry bandura, and ron miller and mike webb. and this year brings more like debbie runkle, joe adkins, tim smid, brad bomba, dan flanagan and family and bob vanesec. i am sure i am mising someone and sorry if i did. but we are the future of giant pumpkin growing in illinois. and what this Monsters of the Midway event did was bring more publicity to the hobby here in illinois than i ever imagined. this is what it is all about. to share the passion and get other people involved at keeping this hobby in the public eye and watch it grow here in illinois. pumpkins come and go every year and records will always be broken. but the friendships, comraderie, and fun is what we as a club will concentrate on and to help illinois and all growers grower bigger pumpkins in the process and to get as many newbies hooked as we can. and for all those who wish to attend next year from out of state...we say welcome to illinois!!!!! grow them big, haul them here, and let the chips fall where they may. i want to say thank you to ken sweet, chris stevens, john hopkins, joe platte, and wade wittenburg for coming such long distances to help make our weigh off the success that it was. so thanks igpga members and thanks you out of state guys. and i was proud as hell to stand at the podium with these 2 guys. i am coming at you both next year. lol. bring it on!!!!
