Christmas Miracle!
I went out Christmas morning to the pumpkin patch and found my winter rye not only germinated but sprouting! This was after only 12 days from seeding so I am not sure if there is some sort of 12 days of Christmas connection or not. (We did have some record warmth and perfectly timed rain events which I think helped the germination process.) I am glad that I did take the risk and seed the patch as hopefully by spring there will be some green covering the patch. When in doubt, seed winter rye and then hope for good weather.
