Node 2: Rooting Hormone Applied
This is the next node down from the previous image (~8 inches or so) and this shows that no main tap root has formed, but there are many different lead roots growing as a result of the application of rooting hormone (CloneX gel).
The key factor to this image is the branching from each lead root that is already occurring even at this early stage of development. This maximized surface area from the start allowing the plant quick access to nutrients and water in the surrounding soil.
