Where Does The Rot Stop?
Without cutting into the vine and doing great physical damage I wanted to have a way to determine where the rot stopped along the main vine. Looking closely at the image you can see holes drilled with a cordless drill in the center of the main vine. As I was drilling I was feeling for the degree the vine was solid and if there was evidence of soft tissue in the inside and if water/liquid poured out.
At each leaf node along the main vine, I would drill a hole until I found consistently hard tissue. It took a few holes, but eventually I found what I was looking/feeling for.
