This is the 1211 Borgers pumpkin only 8-9 ft out on a side vine. 10 DAP and 29 1/2" in circumference. This was the first female on the plant so pollinated it just for extreme backup. The main vine pumpkin was pollinated two days later and is about half this size. I really did not plan on this pumpkin being a contender, so I really don't know how will try to set this thing up. Would it be better to defoliate around the pumpkin, then put down my plywood over the top of the defoliated vines, or would it be better to just cut the vines in the way. Problem is, those vines that would need to be cut are my oldest secondaries, hence the longest. I could put a good layer of soil over the top of the in the way vines so the plywood would not be pressuring the vines underneath, Hoping the main vine pumpkin measures up in two days. Would lean toward the main if not really behind the other, just because of the location and set up. Can't wait until the 20 day measurement.
