I went to a nearby forest preserve where Christopher and I planted 12 trees celebrating earth day. We planted these trees in the heat and I have been faithfully hauling water in buckets up the steep hillside from the lake for two weeks with my arthritic knees. Today, I found the trees ripped from the ground, broken in pieces and many had new roots and leaves. Their stakes were broken and stripped from their planting holes. What a senseless waste. This is a forest preserve taken over by gangs and has become a community eye sore for some time. I am totally disgusted!
