So far the first two polinations on the main vine of the 1872 failed to set. This is the third one way out on the end of the main vine. It's at 7.5" circumference on day 7. It remains to be seen if this one sets but I am inclined not to use it anyway for several reasons. 1. It is out past the split on the main vine and I am concerned about an interruption in nutrient flow from the bulk of the plant. 2. Its not growing as quickly as some of the others on the plant have been at similar ages. 3. Its about 5 feet out of the greenhouse out on the lawn and not I'm a spot where I really want the pumpkin growing. 4. Its already pretty late In the season and it would be nice to go with an earlier polination even if it is on a side vine.
