Botanicare Cal-Mag Plus 2-0-0
Having a calcium product is important in the fertilizer line-up, especially for pumpkins. While pumpkins are heavy consumers of potassium, calcium is also a positive ion so there is a competition in the soil profile and absorption by the roots. This is why it is important not to over fertilize with one nutrient because it can block the absorption of another. While tomatoes are known for blossom end rot, blossom end splits could be encouraged by poor calcium levels. While the majority are probably genetic related, it does seem that in pumpkins that some splits could have a nutrition correlation.
This is an effective plant available form of calcium fertilizer that I have seen result in small tears in the pumpkins skin heal over. Again, it needs to be used in moderation, but this is why it has earned a spot in the line-up when it comes to giant pumpkin growing.
