Day 40 Pumpkin Inspection (F: 2287 Sadiq ’22 x M: 2365 Wolf ’21 (from Ron Wallace))
Well, this is not what I expected this morning, so it looks like my plans have changed for today.
Not sure why this happened on a pumpkin that was growing at a generally average pace and the flower symmetry at the time of pollination was near perfect. There are just somethings that are out of your control and this unfortunately is one of them.
It happened last night so this shows the importance of continual inspections to ensure you are being efficient with your time and not tending to a split pumpkin. Now, the pumpkin efforts will be directed to plant removal, which is much earlier than anticipated.
