Avg. over last 10 days = 41.85 pounds per day
Easy to measure the pumpkin with no plant around. After doing the calculations and seeing the average over the last ten days just over 41 pounds per day this is not an unreasonable growth rate which was in part, the intention. The goal this year was to try and avoid a super-fast grower (like I had last year that rib slit) in hopes I could get a longer growth period to reduce the chance of a split occurring. It seemed like things were going to plan, early pollination to give more days with a slower pound per day average, but still a season ending split. Sometimes the best plans still do not work out completely.
No seeds were saved due to the blossom end split, so no need to put these genetics into the next generation, even though the cross looked great on paper.
