Story time! About a week ago I noticed some bite/gnaw marks on the stump and the secondaries immediately surrounding the stump on the 1708. I suspected rabbits or rats, both are abundant in our neighborhood as we back a hill with a lot of greenery. There is a lone squirrel that we see jumping from tree to tree, but never in the patch.
I have been taking anti-rodent measures and baiting / trapping / eliminating vermin as I find them, but stepped up the game of late. Vermin cause health problems. I do not like vermin.
