It has been a while since my last diary post. I guess I’ve been dealing with the disappointment of The Slunger ending up with DMG status. Months before my season started I set the goal of having my 3 largest pumpkins totaling over 6000 pounds in combined weight. And I would have achieved that goal if it wasn’t for a pin hole in The Slunger. I was (and still am) bummed out. We all work so hard for so long, that when we narrowly miss achieving a long-term goal it really hurts. Sometimes it even overshadows the fact that we just had a fantastic season. But eventually we come to grip with the fact that there is always another chance to achieve that goal next year. Like Linus famously said, “Just wait ‘till next year Charlie Brown. You’ll see!”
