All the squashkins showing a slight defect at the 5th leaf. Not sure why this would be. On most, it looks like the vine wont go double but they all have doubled leaves at this node and a weak appearing main. The mother plant didnt have any leaf doubling, but I did think its main vine was unimpressive. I dont think it could be a low dose of herbicide so that probably means it is a ph, water, or nutrient issue?!
I can speculate that when the soil is waterlogged or anaerobic due to the activity of microbes, the ph and nutrients may get thrown off a bit. I think this could then manifest itself in this sour-soil kind of growth.
