Something I expected.
Finally I'm seeing that I stressed the plant in back enough that I think some of its roots are dying?! It had nice looking roots for awhile they looked as good as all the other plants despite the foliage being small and yellow. But a small yellow plant cant sustain a big healthy root system... I think on the right the roots have died, or the healthy white part has died. On the left, a section in the middle of the healthy white root is also beginning to turn into "overcooked asparagus". So I finally caved and added Jacks fertilizer to this plant too, but I suspect it will not bounce back quickly, since it has lost maybe half its roots now. Sometimes a plant will bounce back quickly, other times it will just appear diseased and languish... its this unseen damage (or maybe, the still surprisingly healthy roots) under the soil that may determine if they do or dont bounce back.
This plant does appear diseased, and now its roots are dying, but I think it was just a lack of nitrogen and phosphorus (and micronutrients) all along. If they dont have enough nutrients they cant grow, and if they cant grow properly they do become susceptible to disease.
Good nutrient availability for rapid growth, is the cure for some diseases?
