The last couple times I watered this tube the water only went about halfway down. The bottom of the tube is almost bone dry and the moisture could only have been removed by the roots (it cant go through the glass). The roots are extensive. A couple of things to learn here 1) drought will stimulate flowering 2) a fast heavy watering would deliver the water deeper and not necessarily oversaturate the soil or cause disease... and a couple moderate to light waterings could deliver water to about 1 ft depth yet fail to deliver any water below that level. It helpful for me to see this because last year I think there were some dry spots in the gourd patch. Interesting to see how this happens.
