We started to run into trouble with the Beachy when the baby pumpkin came straight up on the vine and curved over. Yesterday, the stem was three quarters of and inch from toughing the pumpkin. We made a plywood "push" and attached a two by four back to our garage hoping that we could encourage the pumpkin not to grow its shoulder on that side. I think we would have lost the pumpkin if we didn't do something. We'll see if it works. The following pictures show some close-ups of the device.
