Time to start this year’s diary for real. The old glasshouse that we grew the 1002lber in last year has gone and so has the big weeping birch. That gives us room for four plants in this area this year and bigger patches as well.( about 600sqft / plant ). We have sub soiled all the patches to a depth of about 2ft to help improve the drainage. This big patch outside will now get a cover over the whole area and it’s staying over all year. We’ve decided to do this because this year we want to be in total control of the watering and want no rain on the plants. The photo is of our new extended patch all “manured up” and you can just see the new electric box we’ve put in. ( about 2 tonnes of manure / plant )
