another cool night and another record low at joliet airport last night. but the 1446 still grew 4" and was 29" circ. this morning on day 11. i decided not to pollinate the 4 lober this mornin and will go with this one unless the second one down the line tops it in the next week. no sense spreading the juices out too much with 3 kins competeing with each other on the same vine this early on. this one has a longer stem and i have the pumpkin secondary trained out and around for clearence and the next secondary down the line also trained out and around the opposite way for future clearance. its got a nice shape and the warmer temps predicted for this week will hopefully kick it up to 4.5 to 5 inches a day. watered all plants thoroughly this morning as we have not had a good soaking rain in a while. the scrambled eggs 1041 is growing along with all other pollinations, but still way too early to early to tell if they all took completely. the 1306 at 6 days doesn't look to promising yet and is 11" but is still growing. at that rate it might hit 22" by day 10. the next one down the line is at 18' and will be pollinated tomorrow with the 1446. the 18' has a better position and a better s curve, so not too dissappointed by the other 1306. if the 18' takes, it will have warmer temps to get going early on in. i am hoping to hit 25" or above at 10 days on all keepers if possible. i have had 20 inchers on day 10 go over 65" on day 20, but would still prefer 25 or above if i have my choice. the mill fabric will be adjusted tomorrow cuz i can see in this pic it is a little cockeyed, but i have moved the pumpkin enough today and will let it rest and not do something stupid and snap the stem. wouldn't be the first time but hopefully it won't happen again. like bill murrey says in "what about bob"....baby steps.
