hot and sticky temps are here to stay for a while which hopefully will keeps things growing at a good steady pace. the 997 stump is oozing and has been treated but looks to be going down. treating with captan and keeping it dry and have a fan on it, but when the green snot ooze starts to appear, it is usually a little late at that point. but i do have 15' secondaries in both directions and all secondaries are almost as thick as the main. there is a lot of plant regardless of the stump and i think i might still get something decent out of the plant. laney was 46" circ on day 15 yesterday and up to 5" per day. this pumpkin will get a tarp[ over it. the small stem split where the stem meets the vine has healed but will always pool water. the sheets are so easy, but this one needs the tarp. got the pop up terts in order this year with continual pruning when they appear. got some weeds that are getting taller and will be trimmed but not pulled. no sense messing up my root systems. i do not get in there after a certain point and weed the patch and keep compacting soil and damaging roots. i just keep them below the leaf level canopy and try not to let them seed. georgie (1041) was 122.5" on day 30 this morning and is hitting just under 3" per day right now. cosmo is getting some signs of maturing with hardening skin and ribs forming more. so far so good at this point. would like to see more rain, but watering thoroughly in this heat to keep them chugging. burned some leaves from something. not too bad, but foliar feeding even at night in this heat can be tough on some leaves. the 10-8-8 agro k with calcium added will be going on in light doses every 3 days. from here on out until later on with the switch to the 2-2-12 i believe it is.
