Well, not a pleasant surprise in the patch this morning. So far, in all these years I've only caught one raccoon in my squirrel trap and now this....a full grown skunk.
This one is so fat, I was worried that it was not going to be able to turn around to get out of the trap when/if I opened it. I pondered swimming lessons....threw a blanket over the trap, devised an opening tool with a coat-hanger and lifted the trap door open. It wandered out, looked at me and then waddled over the forested area behind my neighbours house. Not once did it spray, hiss, bare its teeth or anything....hope it learned its lesson and will not return.
