The 1012 Hester is now the largest pumpkin in the patch. The 1012 and 629 Snyder are both still growing. The 1012 did 19 lbs/day for the last week of August. But about 40% of the 1012 plant dropped dead over the weekend. The plant seemed to be perfectly healthy up until saturday. I'm not sure what the cause is. We got 3 inches of rain last week in about a 24 hour period from thursday into friday. This makes me think it could be soil bourne or it could be as simple as bacterial wilt. I hope it makes it the 5 weeks we have until the weigh-off.
