In recent years using the belting under our pumpkins, the fruit have either been flat on the bottom or sometimes a little concave. This one is lumpy and bumpy on the bottom and is part of the reason why that it is growing forward to the stem.

I got some good advice to remove the foam pieces that I had directly under the stem and under the main vine near the pumpkin because as the stem side got nearer the ground, it was creating some stem stress.

We dug out under the belting in order to roll the pumpin back slightly in order to re-raise the main vine and stem up off the ground. When the pumpkin was younger, the vine and stem were at least 6" off the ground so I knew that I had the extra slack in the vine.
