A closer shot of the stem after our proceedure. I can now really understand why alot of growers use the belting along with sand under the pumpkin. If I had starting using sand earlier, we most likely would not have needed this adjustment.
It has been several days now since digging out under the fruit and I am amazed how much the pumpkin has expanded in the area that we dug out.
Like all 1142 van Kooten fruit, this one is sure to go heavy...just heavy enough to out-weigh Gilmore in Nanaimo!!
