Does anyone know if manure from common zoo animals (such as elephants, giraffes, etc.) are good to use in the patch? Thanks.

Many growers use "zoo doo." I wouldn't use carnivore "doo" because it may contain harmful bacteria. Just my 2 cents.

Most large zoo animals are herbivores, though, so that wouldn't be a problem. Elephants have got to produce an enormous amount, so I wonder if they have a problem getting rid of it. Plus, I happen to know some people at the Cleveland Zoo, so if it's good, and free, you can't beat that! --Kurt

I've heard that putting it "around the patch" may ward off deer and other pumpkin munchers.

At the national zoo it's $60-80 for a truck-load, depending on the size of the truck.

So, does that mean it's good to use in the patch? Anyone know the NPK of elephant dung?

I'm not sure specifically about elephant dung, but here is a nice site which talk about "zoo-doo"
