Ok, now i'm totally confused with what type of system to go with. From reading on the message board I convinced myself that I needed to go with a drip system over a sprinkler. However I've been reading a few of the featured grower chats from the past, and most of the big boys seem to just be using overhead sprinkler systems. What are you using and why? Thanks Tony

I don't like to use overhead watering,I think if there is a chance for disease your just going to spread it. But I have had problems with disease in the past. I think the reason you see a lot of overhead watering is it's a lot easer to set up and cheaper. I have allways watered underneath the leaves, by hand, soaker hoses or garden hoses with holes drilled in them. This year I'm going to go with some kind of drip system.

I spent last year strictly watering under the leaf canopy and found a drastic difference in my leaves come September. I will continue this this year with T-tape and hopefully drip away to a 1000+ pounder!

It gets up 110 f here in the summer so use an overhead misting system for approx 90% of our watering. When we use it with a good systemic fungicide we have had no problems with disease. What kind of system you use depends on your environment....

We could not have grown our 758.5 without the cooling that misting offers....underleaf watering just won't cut it in our neighborhood.

I overhead watered last year. I did it during the middle of the day so the soil and leaves would dry out quickly. I grow my plants on a hill so we get alot of wind that helps every thing dryout.

I had a dandy misting system set up two years ago. Two much respected growers advised me to stop using it here in the Northeast where the milldews are just lurking for the right humidity and temperature to take off. I listened to the advise and have not used misting since.

We have not had conditions calling for much water since but I now use underground T-Tapes. I'm ready to water without uping the humidity very much if at all. The past two years I would have liked to sell back some of the rain water we were blessed with. The CEO of the water works did not respond when I thought up the sell back possiblity. :)
