Has anyone had issues with young freshly pollinated females aborting after recieving allot of rainfall?

The temperatures are still warm all my pollinations are still under 10 days we have recieved allot of rain these past 2 days and I was wondering if allot of rain can or will cause aborts to happen? or should it help?

thanks
Dave

dave: i did 14 pollinations one morning and then the rain came shortly after.i used nylons to cover females after pollinations and i think every one of them aborted. keep in mind that we have had unusual temps. here in mich. this year and i think it has contributed a lot to the number of aborts.i have had so many aborts that i can't keep track of them all. good luck. grow em big!!

I think the moisture interfears with the pollination more so than contributing to aborts. If you keep them dry you should be ok!

yup all females were covered night before open with ziplock bags along with males I planned on useing. mourning i would un cover pollinate then tie flower tight
and re cover flower with ziplock bag and left like that for a few days. Ya ive got 2 on the 721.5 vincent that seem to have taken and are now softball size so fingers are crossed that at least on takes, I did another one this mourning at 5am so something should take

if you have tied the female(s) shut after pollination, there is no need to put the Ziploc bag back on the flower
after pollination if there are no tears or holes in the flower itself...seems to me that once the weather had straightened up, and warmed-up, the temperature inside the bag, and the pumpkin/flower itself, would have become a little warmer than we would like to see...perhaps....

If the plants themselves receive too much water that alone can cause small pumpkins, sometime larger one's to go soft ( turn white ) or crack open. Seems to be happening often this season around here.
