I would be interested in getting feed back from Pumpkin Growers that have used Peat Moss in the pumpkin patches. How much did you use per 1,000 sq ft. What type of results did you obtain.

I just added 5 yards to my 1000 sq ft patch this past weekend. I'll let you know how it goes after I grow a 1600 on it next season. LOL!

When I fire up a new patch or bed I spare no bucks. My present patch started with five or six huge bales. In the third year I added some more but only two bales for the nurserys. In my case that was one bale per nursery.

The results I am always looking for is better tilth and a stronger biological community mostly in the top six to eight inches. Real building to solid undeniably quality growing medium takes time and effort.

If you will read Andy Wolf's lines carefully you will find one that shared..."I have been working seven or eight years on that soil". That is why he busted his backside, to pick up and move his best top soil, to his new home location.

It was not the seed, Andy or anything else, but a seven year building relationship, that deliverd a 1400 lb. beauty into his patch. I'd bet my bottom dollar this was the year any number, of fine seeds, would have done him the honors.
