I have some questions about molasses. When can I apply it and when can't I? And then how do I apply it? Will the molasses cause every ant within 2 mile to show up in my back yard? I'm sorry for asking this simple question, but it seems like everytime I search these posting I come away with great info, but I always have 1 or 2 additional questions. Thanks Kenny

I leave a five gallon bucket outside. the pour hole is open so the rain can get in. other then the few bees that seem to drown themselves inside I have never noticed any ants. A heavy application is eight ounces per gallon spread over the soil seems to just feed the bacteria not enough to cause any ants to show up....proably see more if you left an ice cream wrapper on the ground.

They actually recommend spraying Molasses to get rid of ants.

Most grower use 2-3 ounces in the spring to till in the soil before planting. Usually mix it with a gallon or two of very warm/hot water so it will dissolve and not clog your sprayer (if you use one). Also, many growers use it as a foliar spray during the season. Many do a weekly spray in combination with fish/seaweed liquid fertilizer. Foliar spraying is usually 2 ounces in one gallon of water.
