I read in Don L.'s second book that starting around the 2-3rd week in August that I should change from a balance fertilizer to a high potassium fertilizer. I already have, according to my soil test "above optimum" potassium levels. I have also read that high potassium inhibit the uptake of other nutrients. So,to me it does't sound like a great idea to increase my potassium levels even further with this fertilizer, having said that I would like some advice as well as offers of other options if I should do something different. Sorry so long, thanks KathyT

Kathy:
Do you have the reference that discusses K inhibiting nutrient update? Thanks! Greg

Even though potassium can show to be "optimum" or above on a soil test dosn't mean your fruit wouldn't benifit from some additional k during maturation. High K water soluables fed in moderation during late August is a good idea as well as applying foliar paotassium products threw overhead irrigation. These products can pack on the extra pounds and improve fruit quality and "shelf life". Kelp and fish products are great and well proven products to help stimulate growth, however the nutriants are available in such low levels, they really don't effect k content in the plant. Agro K's KDL product is an excellent product. It cantains potassium carbonate and excellent foliar source of potassium.
